Collaboration poem from Zimbabwean Poets
Fertile and fruitful
Her virginity was her pride
So was father too, confided in her
Innocence.
She gave birth to a majestic,
Spirited race
And bestowed knowledge on
How to mock her idolised
Innocence naivete
Like a leaking roof,
She endured all;
The hole and the brutal lashes
Of the smoldering sun,
But still in her silence,
The vestiges of her early beauty,
Still blink like an adamant demon,
That refuses to deviate and lingers on,
She ramains fertile and fruitful.
