The love of God is critically important for us to experience if we truly are to have an identity as His son or daughter. God’s love is what heals us from the inside out and enables us to enter into healthy, whole relationships. His love destroys and dispels any desperate clinging to another person or need to manipulate others. So many believers today are basing their relationships upon the idea that a spouse will heal and restore everything inside them. No human being is capable of doing that!
Only the Lord can heal certain things in us by His love. Those who know God’s love and are walking in God’s love are not desperate people, turning to this one and that one in hopes that someone will value them and love them. They aren’t people who are continually changing their hairstyles and clothes in hopes of attracting someone who will love them. They aren’t desperate for attention or continually questioning whether they are acceptable in the eyes of others.
To know the love of Christ is to know the most awesome love a person can ever know. It is to be forever satisfied and content and fulfilled. Always remember: God’s love for you never fails. It “beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things” (1 Corinthians 13:7). God never gives up on you.
