Othaya MP Wambugu Wainaina addressing the public meeting on Saturday as President William Ruto and other leaders look on

The Saturday’s tour of President William Ruto in Othaya constituency left the area with more than KSh500 million worth of projects.
And the area residents, led by Member of Parliament Wambugu Wainaina alias Kìrìma are all praises with optimism that, once completed, they will greatly improve the local economy.
“We are happy for the visit brought goodies that are beneficial to us. Most importantly, I am happy the locals warmly welcomed the president and his team,” the MP said after the president left.
Some of the development projects that the president announced include; A KSh320 million ultra-modern Othaya town market where he laid the foundation stone, KSh70 Mahiga market, KSh60 million Kagicha market and rehabilitation of Othaya stadium.
Others are putting up of classrooms at Kenya Medical Training Institute (KMTC), Othaya campus. Further, the president pledged to support a local football team with KSh2 million during the upcoming fundraising event and called for a dialogue between Water stakeholders in a bid to reduce tariffs that have in the recent past seen residents hold demonstrations over their increase.
Other area residents led by Machira Muturi shared their MP’s sentiments, saying the tour was successful and beneficial.
Muturi who is also the chairman of KTDA Iria-ini factory board of directors noted that the president addressed issues of Coffee, tea and dairy among others, which like the MP noted that it was a reflection of his administration’s commitment to ensure that farmers reaped maximum proceeds from their farms.
He noted that Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development Mutahi Kagwe also addressed the issues when he was given a chance to address the gathering in Othaya town.
