Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua yesterday faulted the government for allegedly planning to disrupt a church service where he was attending after goons tried to access the church. The former DP said that it was retrogressive to block him from attending a church service terming the action as unfortunate.
Gachagua also said that every Kenyan has a right to association and freedom of expression as enshrined in the constitution.He was speaking during a church service which was temporarily disrupted by hired goons who also damaged some vehicles before they were repulsed by faithful and security officers at Kasarani PCEA Mwiki parish in Nairobi County. Gachagua asked his supporters not to respond to the brutal attacks as it was a plan by Ruto to cause chaos in a bid to postpone the 2027 elections.
The Ministry of Health, Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), WHO, and Migori County, alongside other partners, conducted a two-day Cholera Outbreak Early Action Review (EAR) in Nakuru. The review focused on sharing experiences and assessing outbreak milestones using the 7-1-7 metrics, documenting best practices, challenges, and lessons learned, identifying factors influencing response efforts, and strengthening capacities to develop a blueprint for future EARs. As part of the Red Cross’s 60th anniversary celebrations, this EAR exercise, the first of its kind in the country, will contribute significantly to the SPAR and ensure that future outbreaks are met with greater resilience and efficiency.
Kiambu county’s Witeithie Ward Senior Assistant Chief James Nyoike advises locals on how to co-exist and promote peace love and unity. Nyoike has been reaching out to the locals in different forums where urged them to avoid vices that are detrimental to their wellbeing.
Labour and Skills Development Principal Secretary, Shadrack Mwadime, engaged in a productive meeting with a delegation from Germany on Friday. The meeting served as a follow-up to the Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement signed in September last year between Kenya and the Federal Republic of Germany. Discussions centered on reviewing key accomplishments by both governments since the agreement’s signing and exploring avenues to further strengthen the partnership. Notable attendees included Dr. Joachim Stamp, Special Commissioner for Migration Agreements from the Federal Republic of Germany, Alexander Fierley, Deputy Head of Mission from the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Peter Schmidt, Head of Office at the Office of the Federal Government Special Commissioner for Migration Agreements, Dorothee Schechter, Interpreter from the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community of the Republic of Germany, Joel Mwanzia, Ag. Secretary for Labour Migration, and Edith Okoki, Director General of the National Employment Authority.
Uasin Gishu Women Representative Gladys Shollei urged women leaders in both National and County Governments to champion the initiative and take it to grassroots levels in their counties. She urged them to champion the ‘Mama Kitchen Garden’ Initiative in their communities, adding that every family should be involved in producing the food they eat. Speaking during the national ‘Mama Kitchen Garden’ initiative meeting in Nairobi — a programme championed by First Lady Rachel Ruto — She urged women leaders to work together to ensure that every household has the knowledge and resources it requires to create its own sustainable kitchen gardens.
