More than Forty-six Women and Youth Groups in Kisii County have received 10 million from National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).
Speaking during the disbursement, Kisii Woman Representative, Dorice Donya, the funding is aimed at boosting table banking activities within the groups, providing economic empowerment to the members.
During the handover ceremony at her office in Kisii County, Donya emphasized the importance of utilizing the funds for income-generating activities.
She urged the beneficiaries to invest wisely, not only to improve their socio-economic status but also to navigate the challenges posed by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
“The money will empower members to improve their socio-economic status, especially during these tough economic times caused by the Coronavirus pandemic,” stated the Woman Representative.
She encouraged the groups to view the funds as a stepping stone, emphasizing the potential for future allocations if effectively utilized.
Donya advocated for the active participation of women in government-backed initiatives like the Women Enterprise Fund
She urged women to seize the opportunities provided by affirmative action funds, borrowing and investing in income-earning activities to further enhance their economic independence.
Recognizing the need for equal empowerment, Donya stressed the importance of extending support to young men in the community
She expressed concern over the rising issues of alcoholism and drug abuse among the youth and pledged to continue supporting women’s groups through the NGAAF.
In her commitment to ongoing assistance, Donya affirmed her dedication to providing financial support to women’s groups through the National Affirmative Action Funds.
She called upon women to maximize their participation in key economic sectors and acknowledged the pivotal role played by women in society.
Donya concluded by encouraging more women to engage in ventures that contribute to their economic empowerment.
She urged the beneficiaries to maximize on the funding they get to improve their living conditions through economic activities.
