President William Ruto and his Deputy President Professor Kithure Kindiki

Worth Noting:
- The President added that for the last two years he had not achieved much as he would have wanted.
- Many interpreted this to mean taking a swipe at the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
- During the impeachment process of Gachagua President Ruto steered clear of the matter. The is because he had no power to remove his deputy from office. This power rested squarely with members of the National Assembly and Senate.
- But Gachagua kept insisting that the President was behind his woes. He would not however prove these claims with tangible evidence. The President further stated. As my deputy, Kindiki will now lighten my job in a big way.
As adage goes that birds of the same feather flock together, President William Ruto and his newly inaugurated Deputy President Professor Kithure Kindiki share many things in common.
In his acceptance speech after being sworn-in, Professor Kindiki stated that his first priority is to serve the people of Kenya.
He maintained that he will perform his duties in total compliance with the provisions of the law.
My fidelity to the constitution and the rule of law is beyond reproach.
Article 147 (1) of the constitution defines my role. The oath of office I have just taken commits me to serve as a principal assistant to the President.
So, I look forward to undertake the duties assigned to me by the President.
Your Excellency, I want to assure you that I will be loyal to you.
In his speech, President Ruto minced no word in echoing Kindiki’s sentiments.
As the good Professor have stated, our job is to serve the people of Kenya.
I have worked with Professor Kindiki for many years. I know he is dedicated, honest, and trustworthy and down-to- earth leader.

Professor Kindiki is the third Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya since the new constitution was promulgated in 2010.
On that day of swearing-in I focussed on what the two leaders shared in common.
Since Dr William Ruto was sworn-in as the President, Prof. Kindiki has been the key pillar of his administration.
One of Kindiki’s key virtues is his strong believe in peace and unity of all Kenyans.
President Ruto has all along been championing the same virtues.
Just like the President, Professor Kindiki’s fidelity to the constitution and the rule of law which is beyond reproach.
He is also a firm believer in equal sharing of public resources and development of the entire country.
Besides, he is a God-fearing man. The President is also known to be a staunch Christian. The duo also hailed from poor and humble background.
