Up to this stage, 2022 General Elections was the tedious job that the IEBC commission had on their table. The results for the presidential seat has taken more than 24 hours to be announce and this has caused tense among many people. The other five seats have been announced that is: Gubernatorial seat, senate, women representatives, Member of Parliament and ward representative.
The IEBC chair, Wafula Chebukati has followed what the constitution demands them to do. He later announced that the constitution gives them mandate to announce 7 days after the voting. Though, this decision has rose butterflies in many aspirants stomach but it was the best move because they had time to clearly check the 34A’s form that have been known to have errors.
The commission strictly and carefully analyzes those results before release them in their portal for the media outlets to possess them. It later gave mandate to media outlets to conduct their own tallying for the first time.
However, the media outlets decided to go independently and do their own tallying and this brought different results. This decision has brought confusion into citizens. Many people gave blown up social media platforms such as twitter where they directed their aggression and lead to some of them halting their tallying to avoid losing their viewership.
