The Speaker, accompanied by party officials led by National chairman Essau Kioni and Deputy Secretary General in charge of Strategy Wambugu Nyamu met opinion leaders from Mukurwe-ini, Tetu and Othaya constituencies where he took time to explain to them his agenda.
Muturi and his team promised the residents improvement of agriculture sector and youth empowerment among other issues that his government will prioritise once he takes office
He said, “Agriculture is the key to Kenya’s economy. The growth of agriculture is really the growth of Kenya. The first step to increasing our agricultural yield is to move away from rainfed agriculture to a stable irrigation system. Nyeri has always been a leader in agricultural production but climate change has changed patterns so our famers are losing on production. Our goverment will work towards construction of resovoirs to ensure no season is lost due to lack of rain”.
During the meeting, held at Othaya CDF Hall in Othaya town, Muturi said of youth empowerment, ” our government will come up with programs that will support young people to be their own bosses. It is not about getting jobs for our youth, it is about getting them opportunities to earn a living by equipping them with skills while providing them with capital to start their businesses”.
Today, Muturi is expected to hold a similar meeting for opinion leaders from other parts of the county.
