Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has cautioned President William Ruto to stop using vulgar language when addressing citizens saying that Kenyans may start demeaning him and the presidency.
Gachagua noted that the Head of State has developed a dangerous habit of addressing citizens in a condescending way, throwing insults and abuses in his political addresses across the country.
” Recently, the president branded livestock farmers opposed to the projected vaccination of their animals as fools, dismissing residents of one region as mere Ndengu farmers and yet those from another region as tribalists,” lamented Gachagua.
He was speaking at Kiamariga village, Salama Ward in Laikipia West Sub-county during the funeral of William Nderitu, the father to Laikipia County Senator John Kinyua.

Enumerating instances where president Ruto has lowered the dignity of the presidency, the former DP said that Ruto has been profiling Kenyans while using condescending language towards a section of Kenyans including branding Isiolo county youth as drug peddlers to the chagrin of area residents.
The former DP however cautioned the President to either stop the usage of demeaning language or else Kenyans may start replying back using the same language.
Gachagua expressed his sympathises for President Ruto for the heat he’s facing from the citizenry after messing up the economy and hence being deserted by Kenyans.
On the region’s political direction, the former DP said that the region has already moved on away from President Ruto and will chart its political path sentiments that were echoed by leaders accompanying him.
Among them were area governor Joshua Irungu and his Nyeri and Murang’a counterparts Mutahi Kahiga and Irungu Kang’ats, senators Karungo wa Thangw’a of Kiambu, John Methu of Nyandarua, Kamau Murango of Kirinyaga, Enoc Wambua of Makueni and Okiya Omtata from Busia.
Kahiga challenged his Murang’a counterpart Irungu Kang’ata who in his address to the mourners refrained from declared his political leaning saying that he was only focused on service delivery to his electorate.
Kahiga said that the region was solidly behind their undisputed kingpin, Gachagua and that no leader will be elected in the next general elections who will not be toeing the collective line.
Laikipia North legislator Sarah Korere was wildly jeered after she told off leaders for addressing mourners in Gikuyu and dismissed the mourners thus ,”kwendeni huko”, much to the chagrin of the clergy.
Gachagua, however apologised to the more than 15 men of cloth even as he chided leaders who betrayed the community.
The three national Assembly members from the county, Laikipia East’s Mwangi Kiunjuri, Wachira Karani of Laikipia West and Korere left the venue in a huff moments before Gachagua rose to speak.
Their counterparts including James Gakuya of Embakasi North, Mejja Donk Gathiru of Embakasi Central, Naivasha’s Jayne Kihara as well as Murang’a senator Joe Nyutu calmly remained seated to the end. Also present was Laikipia County Deputy Governor Reuben Kamuri was also present. Former area woman rep Cate Waruguru and who has declared her interest in the gubernatorial seat was wildly cheered when she rose to speak.
