Stupid things I did in youth
In pursuit of life’s promises
And now am sagging old
Life promises no more.
I basked in the sun of youth
Lived an immortal urge
Sizing time and its ways
Messing with jaws of existence.
Youth was yesterday’s joy
Eating the hills of my energy
Limited in the mortal way
In flesh, heart, soul and mind.
Watching my setting sun
Basking in the fading yellow skies
I lived my youth as youths live
Imprudent, careless and with no regrets.
