Matatu Owners Association President Albert Karakacha

Various state organs drawn from the Traffic Police Department, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) as well as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have joined efforts with the Matatu Owners Association in a bid to curb the cases of road carnage in our country.
Speaking when they held a joint meeting in Nairobi, the stakeholders unanimously agreed that the synergy is geared towards sealing the existing loopholes and gaps that are responsible for the deaths of roughly six thousand people annually, according to official statistics.
The Traffic Commandant Mary Wambui noted:
“We are going to work closely with the Matatu Owners Association and other stakeholders because we realize that accidents are on the rise; so far we have lost 756 people, 281 of them being pedestrians and if we are going to check this trend we must work with all stakeholders in the road safety industry.
On his part, President Albert Karakacha noted: “We believe that the police through the Inspector General he has done a very good job to return the power of traffic to the Commandant, we are going to support the office of the Commandant, we are here to support the common mwananchi, and we are here to support the Government. We want to urge our members wherever they are, the issues of road safety is going to be there as matatu owners association we are going to take it all over the country within Nairobi we have already come up with a plan we are going to start a clinic in Makongeni police station and Kabete police station as from 7th.
