As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, its integration into education has raised both excitement and concern. While AI promises to revolutionize learning experiences, it also brings with it a set of negative impacts that are particularly concerning for students. From increasing dependency on technology to stunting critical thinking skills, the rapid adoption of AI in classrooms may inadvertently hinder students’ growth.
As we embrace the future of education, it is crucial to address these challenges and find a balance between innovation and meaningful learning.
Too Much use of AI is killing creativity and in activating use of mind to think and solve simple issues .Most university students are into the use of AI in doing almost everything there is lack of creativity and innovation because they have made their minds to relax and allow AI do everything for the them
It’s possible for one to simply ask AI to perform a certain task by just explaining a little bit of what they want to write about.Due to this Excessive use of Ai most university students especially those taking Journalism lack creative writing skills because they see no need of Knowing all That while there is AI
There are various Ai chat bots that can write anything that someone wants be it a story or answers of certain things. This causes students not to even base on research and Analysis because they Believe what gpt,poe and poe gives the is correct.
After Conducting a Questionare with students around Rongo university the research shows that 99% percentage of the students use Ai in doing the assignment. Some assignments requires one to go to the field and gather information but due to laziness and A lot of dependency on Ai Their minds are in active ,it also causes them to be incompetent while out their looking for jobs, Because they lack Basic skills required in the field as a result of using Ai in doing everything. And that’s why most companies are not hiring people with degrees but rather those that have the skills required in that field rendering most people Jobless.
A PR Communicator is expected to have communication skills and they have to be able to talk to the public and be able to convince them about a certain brand for the success and Good image of the brand Due to laziness that AI is bringing to our minds it’s impossible for them to think even simple things they just have to Google before handling anything.
” Ai is very power tool that has made our work easier we can do assignment through the use of AI and its very first and less stressing , Because you only need to explain yourself briefly on what you want and it does the rest ” Mary said A third year student RU.
she Added “As per now my mind cannot do anything without using of chat gpt I cannot do any assignments without using Chat gpt because I’m a bit of addicted using It” use of Ai tools is also addictive and causes brains to sleep thats what research says
Students should minimize the use of Ai and use it responsibly and reasonably for it is with us to help too but that shouldn’t instigate laziness or make our minds dull thus killing critical thinking skills.
