The Late Hon. Mwai Kibaki as the third President of Kenya was remembered for the success of the country in terms of corruption. He vowed to fight against corruption in all multinational government organization and agencies.
The late Hon Mwai Kibaki wanted to create a good image of the country to be recognised within the country and internationally in the media outlets. He knew people will try to swindle the government in many ways using the government’s funds.
The late Hon Mwai Kibaki came into power in the year 2002, and he encouraged, informed and educate the citizens about the diversetating effect of corruption, and it’s negativity into the country. As he quoted in December 2002, during his inauguration ceremony, that “corruption will not cease to be a way of life in Kenya”.
He therefore called upon all government officials and public officers during his government to stand against the acts of corruption.
Those who were involved in corruption scandals were strictly dealt with by the body of Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission.(EACC). This body was formed after President Mwai Kibaki signed the Ethics and Anti-corruption Act on 29th August 2011.
Many leaders today in the contemporary society have tried to emulate Kibaki’s efforts in their term to fight against corruption.
The late Hon Mwai Kibaki was patriotic leaders as he said he step up to fight against corruption in East Africa biggest economy when he came into power as corruption was seen as major influence that was hindering the development of Kenya’s economy.
He knew corruption as being a threat and enemy of development to the country. Kibaki’s government has remained to be emulated with so many achievements especially in overcoming the corruption acts since he said that “the new constitution that was promulgated in August had given fresh impetus to a war against corruption” which many analysts say that it is a great enemy and has choked the growth in Kenya’s economy, hindering potential investors. Truly, the Hon. Mwai Kibaki was a great “anti-corruption crusader” as they say it.
