TND To Champion For The Mountain Communities Interest In 2027 General Election

- Dr Mathenge added that in other parts of the country, communities have their own political parties which they use to champion for their intetest and he pointed out at Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi whom he noted are holding those positions courtesy of the political parties that they lead, despite performing dismally during the last General Election.
- “This time, we must not be left behind. We will not go to the negotiation table without our own party. And TND is emerging as the region’s party of choice,” Dr Mathenge who was accompanied by some of the party officials said.
The New Democrats (TND) political party will front for the interest of the most voter rich region as the date for the next General Election nears.
The party, chaired by business magnate Dr Thuo Mathenge will be championing for the interest of the region and more so the most populous community in the country during the preparation for the formation of the government that will reign after the 2027 General Election.
Over the weekend, Dr Mathenge convened a leaders meeting at Bantu Africa Resort and SPA near Nyeri town to chat the way forward.
The consultative meeting brought together leaders from Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Embu and Laikipia counties sought to device ways of attracting majority of mountain region residents to the party.
And just like the previous weekend when he hosted dozens of grassroots leaders and party supporters at the same venue, last Saturday also saw some officials from other parties like United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Jubilee and Kanu defecting and joining TND.
“We have been meeting to strategize on how best we can popularise TND as the party of choice for over 10 million voters in this region. We want TND to be the party that will front the interest of our communities, just like the way other communities have been doing,” he said after the meeting.

To those in the region and supporting other political parties, Dr Mathenge retorted, “UDA is not your party. Jubilee is not your party. The only party that belongs to this area and which locals can be sure will cater for their interest is none other than TND,”.
Saying that under his leadership TND will steer the region forward politically, Dr Mathenge called upon those in other parties and those who are still partyless to seriously consider aligning with The New Democrats party.
The consultative meeting delved into the potential ramifications, benefits, and challenges of such a political realignment. Those present expressed their optimism on the regional leaders and voters supporting the initiative saying the move was long overdue.
Those present included Mwalimu Gachagua who is the party’s Nyeri county coordinator, his Laikipia County counterpart Ndirangu Kuria,
John Gathuru who is from Kirinyaga County and councillor Dick Mukono from Embu County.
Dr Mathenge disclosed that his party is now ready to recruit and register as many members as possible.
He revealed that for one to join TND, all what is required is do it online by dialing *509# and following simple instructions.
Simular meetings will soon be convened in other areas in a bid to popularise the party.
