Several leaders allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in Kisii county have protested against a rally planned by the Azimio la Umoja in Kisii county on Monday and urged residents to shun it.
Led by former Kisii county Deputy Governor, Joash Maangi, the leaders- UDA Members of Kisii county Assembly and losers said the rally, planned by the Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga is meant to create a wedge between the government and the Gusii community.
Speaking at Kisii County, Maangi asked Raila to leave Gusii community alone to chart their political future.
He said it was ironic that the former Prime Minister is holding rallies in some parts of Kenya and has skipped south Nyanza counties- Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Siaya.

The former DG said leaders from the Gusii community are set to host president Ruto during the home coming of Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, stressing Gusii leaders will not allow anybody to intimidate the leaders.
He lauded the president for appointing Machogu as CS and others from the Gusii community and urged him to appoint more, stressing residents of the community are behind him.
Masimba Ward MCA, Bouse Mairura and colleagues Ronald Achira ( Moticho) and Ednah Kwamboka, ( nominated) urged Raila to stop the rallies and instead allow Kenyans to work to improve their lives.
“The economy is bad and people need to work on their farms. There is no need to waste time in rallies” Mairura said.
Former Sengera Bosoti MCA, Ibrahim Mbuya told Raila to stop rallies and allow Ruto to lead the country to enhance the country’s development.
Mbuya urged the former prime minister to accept defeat and instead mentor another person to vie for the 2027 presidential seat.
The leaders said that they will not allow the community to be dragged into protests instead of focusing on development.
