Mavlonova Makhliyo Oybek
- Hamdam’s novel “Equilibrium” seems to guide the way of living of modern people. It is one of my favorite books because it calls me to treat materiality and spirituality equally, because spirituality and materiality should be present in a person at the same time.
A person can learn many lessons from this novel. Yusuf, the main character of the play, is a history teacher. He begins to face various difficulties. In the meantime, he becomes homeless, and his wife leaves for the village with her son. Such testing situations are common in human life. Tragically, his one and a half year old son will not recover and the baby will pass away due to the greed of some unscrupulous doctors. Yusuf is an intelligent person, but due to the times, he remains in the vortex of material difficulties. Even the one who received news from his parents in the village will not be able to earn money. Meanwhile, his friends Said and Mirazim get rich from their business. Yusuf is also invited to work. He does not agree to the offer due to his strong love and devotion to science. Comrade Said is a character who forgets the hereafter due to wealth and considers this world better than heaven, while Yusuf’s brother Amir completely forgets the world and devotes himself to religion. Through these two characters, we can see that the balance is broken. Yusuf lives in an effort to maintain balance at all costs.
We can read from the work that there is a standard in every work. In addition, a person should not leave the world for the sake of religion, and not leave religion for the sake of the world. It is necessary to maintain a balance between materiality and spirituality.
