Waiguru Ask Those Seeking Gubernatorial Position To Seek Support From Voters Instead of Fighting Her

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has asked those seeking to become county boss during the 2027 polls to seek support from voters instead of fighting her effort to change the county.
Waiguru said those interested in becoming governor after her exit should focus on selling their agenda to the people because this what will matter.
“People of Kirinyaga are very informed, those seeking to become governor should tell the people what they have done for them. They should stop panicking because I will not be competing with them for the seat,” Waiguru said.
Speaking in Mwea West during distribution of assorted items for community groups in Mutithi ward, Waiguru accused a section of elected leaders who have declared interest in gubernatorial position of engaging in lies and propaganda to win public support ahead of the 2027 polls.
She said “no one knows with certainty who will become the next governor for Kirinyaga” because there are other potential candidates who are yet to declare their interest.
Waiguru said in 2027, she was among the last people to declare interest for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat but ended up defeating seven men who had spent years campaigning.
“It’s is still early for campaigns, go slow, even if I will not be vying, we will ask the voters to vet all those vying and look at their track record,” she added.
Waiguru accused the leaders of using health care issues to campaign instead of delivering their promises to the people.
She said the transformation that her administration has undertaken in the health sector for the last seven years including upgrading of Kerugoya County Referral Hospital to a level five facility, construction of 20 dispensaries and ongoing upgrading of Kimbimbi, Kianyaga and Sagana to level four hospitals is clear for all people to see.
She said that her administration is upgrading Kimbimbi hospital to a level three facility so that it can serve people much better.
“Instead of spending lot of money repainting and repairing a facility that was built in 1960s, we are building a new three story medical complex at Kimbimbi that will elevate the hospital from level 3 to level four to serve you better,” she said.
While noting that her performance had been rated as 3rd best in the country in latest survey conducted by Infotrak Research and Consulting firm, the county boss said the people of Kirinyaga had shown trust and confidence in her.
The governor said she will not be distracted from delivering her promises by leaders who have no development record to show.
She asked people not to fall into a trap of electing a “clown” who could reverse gains made in developing the county.
