Recently insecurity cases in Baringo have been at its climax as the headlines of news focus on this unfortunate county. The residents have been in sleepless nights in fear of being raided by these heartless lawbreakers.
Attacks by armed bandits have left the residents suffer massive losses. Hundreds heads of livestock have been stolen and people have also lost their lives.
Despite the measures taken by Rift valley regional commissioner, Mohammed Maalim, to curb the insecurity in Baringo, the cases have continued to be reported. What fuel insecurity in Baringo?The biggest question in the minds of kenyans.
A few days ago a security officer was attacked and killed while on patrol. It is said that the bandits escaped with the uniform and gun of the deceased officer.
Acquisition of powerful firearms by these bandits has raised concerns that some politicians who are still in offices could be funding the bandits by supplying weaponry.
There have been claims that a helicopter has frequently been spotted landing on Korkon hills in Baringo south where armed bandits graze livestock. The Rift Valley regional commissioner has however noted that security in the area has been beefed up and government is carrying out their investigation on the mystery of white chopper
According to the residents the white chopper could have been supplying firearms to the bandits. This might be a clear indication that politicians are involved in insecurity situation in Baringo as the choppers in kenya are more owned by politicians.
I urge Kenyans not to come into conclusions. Let the government through undercover agencies do their work and justice be done. On the other hand the residents should not speculate about insecurity in Baringo.
