World Vision Kenya Transforms 2 Million Lives With Sustainable Community Development

World Vision Kenya (WVK) has positively transformed over 2 million lives through its commitment to sustainable community development, guided by its 2021-2025 Strategy.
This strategy focuses on enhancing livelihoods, health, education, and child protection, aiming to foster resilience in Kenyan communities.
Starting with immediate relief efforts during a severe drought, WVK provided food, water, healthcare, and support for over 5,000 children through sponsorship programs and agricultural training.
Since 2010, the organisation has intensified its advocacy efforts, aligning with Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Programs like the Kenya Big Dream have significantly impacted communities, reducing FGM cases by 50% and increasing school retention rates for girls by 30%. Currently, WVK operates in 37 out of 47 counties, benefiting more than 2 million people annually.
During WVK’s 50th anniversary celebration, Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Dr. Alfred Mutua, praised the organisation as one of Kenya’s largest humanitarian entities.
He highlighted the vital partnerships with the government that have helped tackle various challenges, including droughts, while emphasising WVK’s role in empowering children and improving community resilience.
Dr. Mutua noted WVK’s achievements, including educational support for over a million children and access to clean water for 2 million people.
He reaffirmed the importance of collaboration in child protection initiatives, aiming to end violence against children and promote their rights.
