The 3rd annual Blue Economy Investment and Innovation Summit 2024 (BEIIS) is set to take place in October, with the theme “Building an inclusive blue future.”
The forum will focus on innovative solutions and strategic investments in the blue economy to support sustainable development and ocean resource protection.
The Director of Sote Hub, David Ogiga, announced that at least 500 people have registered for the summit, emphasising the importance of registration in advance.
The event will also address challenges facing the blue economy sector, such as plastic pollution, which is a leading menace globally.
The forum will focus on three significant aspects: climate change and ocean resilience, access to capital, and the use of technology for business success and job creation in the Coast region.
The Kenya Maritime Authority Chairman, Hamisi Mwaguya, highlighted the 3-year partnership with Sote Hub to improve the blue economy sector and called on youths to register in large numbers.
“Innovation is mainly done by the youth since they belong to the section of people who are curious and innovative; hence, we are asking them to register in large numbers. We want to assure them of our unwavering support, and we look forward to the new inventions,” said the chairman.
Sote Hub has played a critical role in acting as a direct link between the county government and the youth, and the upcoming event is a collaboration between Sote Hub, the Kenya Maritime Authority, the Aga Khan Foundation, Tech Bridge Invest, Absa Bank, Slovak Aid, and the UK Kenya Tech Hub.
