Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu yesterday flagged off relief supplies meant for various learning institutions in the area.

The food is to be distributed to various schools within the County to mitigate the biting drought.

Some parts of the county have been hit hard drought with livestock dying due lack of pasture and water.

Residents in some places are also said to be gojng going without food for days.

This has called for urgent attention to save lives.

After flagging off in Nanyuki town, the Governor later presided over the distribution of foodstuff in a number of schools where he expressed his satisfaction with the way the exercise is being conducted.

He pledged full commitment by the government to procure more foodstuff to reach out to more Laikipians facing hunger.
