Open your spiritual eyes today as you worship the Lord! See the great host of angels camping about you, strong and glorious and countless in number. See the great host of saints, some who are the Old Testament saints who died in faith, not yet having seen the promise of Jesus Christ yet embracing Him from afar. See those who come from denominations other than yours, who perhaps don’t know hymn number you commonly sing! See believers who are from other centuries, who are of other colors, customs, and cultures.
You are going to have to take off the blinders of your little prejudices and biases and doctrines and organizations and movements to see your whole family! The worship of the Lord is for the whole family together, not the family separated into little clique groups gathered in this corner and that corner, some standing, some sitting, and others on their faces. No—the whole family is united and intermingled as one family, in heaven and earth, and all are bowing before the Lord.
God desires for us to be one because it is only in a unified body that His power can be released. It is only when we see ourselves bonded together under the authority of the divine Chief Executive Officer, who gives us a vision for this “mystery corporation” called the Church, that we can begin to experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit’s power in our midst. Paul is adamant about unity. “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all (EPHESIANS 4:4-6)”
