The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has set up a sawmill that will ensure farmers get good returns for planting trees
The Chief Conservator Forests Julius Kamau yesterday led the commissioning and launch of the Komaza Sawmill in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua Country. He noted that the sawmill aims to increase wood product range and variety from the traditionally treated wood logs and aims at creating value addition to the products and better returns to farmers.
He was accompanied by the Kenya Forestry Research Institute Deputy Director Dr. Jane Njuguna, Forestry Society of Kenya Chairman Benjamin Wamugunda, and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Conservation Secretary Mr. Alfred Gichu among other officials and representatives from the government and private sectors.
