The Polytechnic established a “Jitume Digital Lab” through government initiative. The lab is equipped with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), broadband connectivity, reliable power, and security. It serves as a work hub that provides a conducive environment for accessing digital jobs sourced both locally and internationally. The lab has a capacity of one hundred (100) taskers and as such, it operates 24 hours to accommodate the increasing number of taskers. It is open to the local community and training on digital skills and jobs biding is a continuous process.
To ease the search for online work by freelancers, AJINIT (Accessible Jobs Initiative and Interactive Training) Agency was established on 27th November 2024. The Agency is committed to assisting taskers in maneuvering through the digital realm successfully. The platform provides young individuals access to digital services, digital skills, and opportunities that enable them utilize technology for job creation.
AJINIT is more of interaction than training; it is a community where young people join hands to support one another. At the beginning, many taskers had little experience with technology or online work. However, the agency provided an environment where they could learn and grow in the digital space no matter their background.
The Polytechnic Online Jobs hub holds frequent workshops and training sessions; experienced online workers from the agency train in skills such as graphic design, content writing, and digital marketing. Young freelancers learn how to create impressive profiles on job platforms and how to present their skills effectively. Through our agency, the participants have gradually realized the endless possibilities in online work.
