To say the least, this 7th day of March, the year if the Lord 2023, I am greatly encouraged. I know very well it is the work of God. According to the culture/ discipline I have developed of reading/ studying: “A chapter a day, keeps the devil away” , chapter 10 of Proverbs has been my focus and meditation, particularly these verses which I have related with very much and also speaking to me in a period of great transition in my life.
These are Proverbs 10: Vs 4 “ Lazy people are soon poor, hard workers get rich” Vs 9 “ People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall.” Vs 15 “The wealth of the rich is their fortress; the poverty of the poor their destruction.” vs 21 “ The words of the godly encourages many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense.” and vs 22 “ The blessings of the Lord maketh a person rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.”
This is a powerful scripture, let’s dissect it. We see wealth is good, and a hard working person sons gets rich. This is a principle which well applied gives such results. It is also very critical to have integrity, so as to walk safely in the land, and not to slip and fall. This reminds me of several persons/ mentors in my life who gave immensely accumulated wealth genuinely, and they walk confidently and safely in our communities; such an inspiration. We also see that this wealth creates a fortress around a person. We note that the character of the godly is to encourage many with his words; this encourages me in my calling of Evangelism and even in our day to day conversations with people.
We also note a peculiar, wonderful characteristic of blessings (e.g. wealth) from God: that He addeth no sorrow! So, let’s give God glory for what HE bestows us, with a heart of thanksgiving, even letting go of what bringeth sorrow, knowing well that God has great blessings in store for us. Let’s be patient, and wait on the Lord.
