Livestock farmers in the country have every reason to smile following introduction of a new silage making and packaging machine.
The ultra-modern machine introduced by Panabiz Marketing Africa Ltd is expected to assist farmers save on cost of securing feeds as is able to make silage from virtually all materials grown and fed on livestock.
The new silo pack machine is capable of chopping any fodder feeds, press and packs them at a high speed.
A farmer using this machine is also able to add any nutrients before the package is complete.
Once packed, the farmers wait for three weeks for the silage to ready for consumption.
According to Vishal Vidhata, one of the officials of the firm, in an hour, the machines which can use diesel or electricity to run is capable of preparing about four tonnes of fodder and pack 250 bags of 60Kgs each per day.
Vishal said the modern machine is expected to assist farmers, more so those in dairy sector to get maximum returns and also create jobs for the youth who will be hired by those acquiring it.
Vishal alongside his colleague Gurpreet Singh Kalsi urged the farmers’ groups to procure the machine as it guaranteed good for return on investment.
The two showcased its operations during the Nyeri Dairy AgriTec and Farm Machinery Expo at Mweiga Stadium, Kieni West, Nyeri County last Friday.
The firm was among dozens of others that took part in the exhibition that was organised by Avantuah Ventures, a private firm that specialises with organising sensitization forums for farmers in various sectors.
