Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi meeting KTDA Holdings Board Members led by chairman David Muni Ichoho and CEO Wilson Muthaura at his Kilimo House, Nairobi

Leaders of tea farmers affiliated to the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Holdings yesterday held a consultative meeting with Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi.
The meeting held at the ministry headquarters at Kilimo House in Nairobi discussed various issues affecting the multibillion shillings sub-sector.
Led by the board chairman David Muni Ichoho, the small scale tea farmers leaders presented various challenges they are facing in carrying out reforms since they took office in June 2021.
The Cabinet Secretary assured the board that the Ministry is committed to work with them for the benefit of the farmers in particular and the country in general.
He said that the Ministry has already rolled up plans to improve the tea sector productivity by instituting several measures including providing subsidized fertilizer to farmers, establishment of Orthodox Tea Lines and value addition common user facilities.
Apart from the KTDA Board and Management members, the meeting was also attended by the Crops Development Principal Secretary Philip Kello Harsama as well as other top officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
