Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition plan to dispatch teams to every county to engage the people, taking them through the so-called ‘whistle blower’ dossier.
The contents of the document were leaked by Jubilee Secretary and former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni, termed it as a bombshell.
This is because it allegedly showed Raila had won the elections. He had allegedly garnered 8.1 million votes against Dr William Ruto’s 5.9 million votes.
When I read this, the first question that came to my mind is. How come they did not use this evidence during the hearing of their petition?
I had previously penned an article in this column touching on my analysis of the outcome of the polls held on August 9, 2022.
Looking at how Kenyans voted, Raila had lost a good chunk of votes to Ruto from regions that were known to be his political bastions.
These included Western, Coast and Ukambani.
In Bungoma County, for instance, majority voted for President Ruto, then Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate.
In his strongholds of Mount Kenya and Rift Valley, Ruto retained his popularity.
Therefore, it is hard for Raila to convince Kenyans he had won the polls. How? Where did he get the numbers?
Back to the ‘Whistle Blower’, allow me to draw the attention of Kenyans to the remarks by MP Ndindi Nyoro.
Speaking during the Interdenominational Prayers attended by President William Ruto in Kirinyaga County, he dismissed the dossier and termed it as hot-air.
He said it had been authored by one Geofrey Smith, an American, who is the founder and the leader of American based group called Vanguard-Africa.
This group had signed a contract with Azimio to help them do thier hatchet job at the Bomas of Kenya.
Azimio had paid Smith a small deposit and he is now demanding to be paid all the balance. Let them sort out this without involving us in their theatrics drama.
He added: Mr John Githongo was thier pointman here in Kenya and as you know he lied to Supreme Court during the hearing of Raila’s petition.
The court noted his actions amounted to a crime of perjury. The judges fell short of asking the relevant arms of government to have him charged.
These are the authors of the dossier. Can you trust them?
Yes, I agree that Ndindi is a politician and hence it was too early treat his remarks as gospel truth.
However, there is a saying that goes: When you see the smoke, there is a fire.
The MP spoke on behalf of the majority of Kenyans.
To them, they voted and elected Dr Ruto as the President of Kenya. So, the campaigns and elections were over and behind them.
Turning to Raila, it is time he should accept defeat and move on.
Dr Ruto has said he has no room for a nusu mkate nusu. As a democrat, he wants the opposition to stick to thier lane and check the government. We know Azimio leader and some of his allies are not happy with this.
This informs why they have organized countrywide mass actions camouflaged public consultative forums.
The ultimate goal is to disrupt President Ruto’s agenda of fulfilling the promises he made to Kenyans.
Raila should rethink tack and engage the government in a structured and constructive dialogue. This is only he can leave behind a memorable legacy worth to be emulated by current and future generations.
