The Senate Board of Management, led by the clerk of the Senate, Jeremiah Nyegenye, has confirmed that Busia County is ready to host senators for the Senate Mashinani function, scheduled to take place on September 23.
Nyegenye stated that the county is well-prepared in terms of hospitality and facilities, as it is the border county.
During the period, the senate will hold committee sittings and enquiries, and senators will visit different parts of the county to observe development.
Nyegenye emphasised the importance of the senate having connections with the counties and government through senate mashinani.
He asked residents of Busia to attend senate sessions and committee sittings, where they will have the opportunity to participate in various bills, present memoranda on bills, and connect with their legislators.
βThey will have the opportunity to give their voice on several bills through public participation. They will also be able to present their memorandum on different bills and connect with their legislators,β he said.
This will be the fourth session of senate mashinani, having been held at Uasin Gishu County in 2018, Kitui County in 2019, and Turkana County in 2023.
The team visiting for the second time will also assess other facilities in the county.
