The Competency Based Curriculum by the former Cabinet Secretary for Education Hon. Ezekiel Mochogu implementing the opinion set by the Odhiambo’s Commission in 2010 has turned the state in to a battle field. The citizens are seen divided among themselves into two groups, the ayes and the nayes. For over four years the country has had a battle of ideas yet no conclusion. Should or should there not be CBC implemented in the country? Is the country ready for the change? Are there any fruits?
Despite having several challenges like any other new implementation CBC has played a pivotal role in improving education for pupils. To begin with, CBC has changed the image of education in the lower level from theoretic approach to practical approach. It has proven to be technical, mental and spiritual aimed. At ensuring the independence of learners. Learners freely interact with their environment with a view to exploit it harmoniously maintaining the ecological balance.
