Celebrities are the major influencers in the society with youth emulating approximately 80% of their daily activities, specifically body image and substance use which is detrimental to their mental health. Celebrities are therefore called upon to accord their lifestyles to societal social norms.
The music industry plays a bigger role in humans’ life. Musicians and content creators should provide content that does not impact the society negatively. For instance, most songs in the Kenya today tend to contain vulgar words and sexual content as most celebrities think that it leads to wide viewership without paying attention to the negative side where children end up fornicating, being alcoholics and violent.
Clout chasing has been the most widely used term on social media platforms over the past months. Upcoming artists should produce good content that attracts a huge following rather than making critics. The case of Cartoon Comedian and Rapper Diana B is as a result of the Rapper’s recent released song dubbed “MUBABA.” Instead of Cartoon focusing on her comedy to gain popularity, she chose to criticize Diana B’s song.
Youth should dress decently and avoid short attires as portrayed by most celebrities in the society. Clothes that expose one’s nakedness endangers them to rape and other vices that ruin one’s life like early pregnancies and contracting STI’s.
Content creator’s main goal in the society should focus on changing the immoral acts that have evolved among the children and act as good role models.
