HOW SAFE ARE KENYANS?
Security in the country is an important key to the welfare of Kenyans and also to the development of the country. However for the past months the rate of insecurity in the country has risen instilling fear among Kenyans. Robbery and serial killings is on the rise which has become a major setback to Kenya’s economy.
The traumatizing ordeal of the Rongai robbery where a woman is robbed at a gun point in her residence terrifying. This daring robbery came just days after two men who were caught on CCTV robbing a man in Kilimani in June 2020 were sentenced in life imprisonment in June 2022.The robbery occurred on Sunday at 2:20 am where the lady was ambushed as soon as she drove into her compound at Gataka.
Police have so far assured Kenyans that they are working around the clock to apprehend the suspects and to bring them to book.
Meanwhile Kenyans are encouraged to avoid such inhumane acts and to uphold peace even as investigation continues to prove the Rongai robbery.
Elsewhere in Kerio valley, residents are living in fear as a result of synonymous banditry, killings and violence where public good e.g. rule of law, political participation, education and healthcare cease to exist.
Killings here have become weekly and monthly rituals where both the residents and police officers have become victims. This has made the residents of this are to feel betrayed and abandoned by the government they look upon for protection.
The dominant question among Kenyans now is, “how safe are we?” and while we pull the shots go find an answer to this, Kenyans are encouraged to strongly condemn violent acts that causes unrest and in turn promote unity and togetherness across the country for peace to prevail.
