CS Murkomen reshuffles Regional and County Commissioners in new administrative changes

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen announced a major reshuffle affecting Regional Commissioners and County Commissioners in changes aimed at enhancing efficiency, coordination and service delivery across the country.

In a statement issued on Friday, the CS said the transfers, deployments and promotions were informed by the officers’ experience, qualifications and performance in addressing security and administrative challenges.

Among the Regional Commissioners affected by the transfers are Rhoda Nyaboke Onyancha, who moves from Coast Region to Nairobi, Paul Rotich who has been transferred from Eastern Region to Coast, Samson Macharia Irungu who moves from Western to the Office of the President headquarters, and Flora Nkatha Mwororah who shifts from Nyanza to the Office of the President headquarters.

The ministry also promoted three officers to Regional Commissioner positions. Jacob O. Muganda, formerly Meru County Commissioner, has been deployed to Eastern Region, Onesmus Musyoki Kyatha from Kakamega County moves to Nyanza Region, while Allan Machari has been deployed to Western Region from the Office of the President headquarters.

Regional Commissioners Joshua Muriungi Nkanatha, John Odhiambo Otieno and Dr. Abdi Mohammed Hassan retained their positions in Central, North Eastern and Rift Valley regions respectively.

The changes also affected several County Commissioners across the country.

Joseph Kibet Boen was transferred from Kiambu to Kilifi, while Stephen Kutwa Sangolo moved from Baringo to Lamu. Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru was moved from Kericho to Tana River, John Kiprotich Cheruiyot from Samburu to Meru, and Mwachaunga Mohamed Chaunga from Kisii to Machakos.

Other transfers include Shufaa Omar Mwijuma from Nyamira to Kirinyaga, Alason Hussein from Kirinyaga to Trans Nzoia, Wesley Koech Mabwai from Lamu to Baringo, and James Taari Rwaria from the North Eastern Regional Commissioner’s office to Kakamega County.

Benson David Leparmorijo was moved from Kisumu to Nyamira, James Gatutha Kamau from Marsabit to Kisii, while Gideon Nyandiricha Oyagi, David Kipkosgei Kiprop, Josephine Auma Ouko, David Simiyu Wanyonyi and Joseph Mwangi Wamuti were transferred to the Office of the President headquarters.

The ministry also announced fresh deployments of senior deputy county commissioners to various counties. Jackson Ngelai Olechuta was deployed to Garissa, Ronald O. Enyakasi to Wajir, Stanley Ndungu Kamande to Marsabit, George Odhiambo Omolo to Isiolo, Isaac Keter Cheruiyot to Samburu, George O. Matundura to Kiambu and Ali Omari to Kericho.

Murkomen said the changes take effect immediately and are intended to strengthen coordination of National Government functions and improve service delivery at regional and county levels.
