By Nyasha Celeste Makombe Thee Poetic Raindrop
I’m sick and tired of them
Nothing I do impresses them
They always judge don’t even try to understand
They always have something draining to say
They want to change me
Mould me into something I’m not just so I can fit in their pockets
I figured I’m too big can’t fit in their tiny circle
Too small can’t swallow their gigantic ego’s
They give me unending lectures on how to live my life
Trying to control and watch my every move
They just can’t let me be me
All I wanted was to be loved and accepted the way I am
I kinda figured I’m different because I lose every friend I make you see
There’s this shadow of loneliness that follows me around
It tends to push everyone away even those that paint rainbows to my pale blue sky
I’m not allowed to live my life the way I want to
I’m not even half of what is expected of me
They want me to turn my back on me and embrace their expectations
All I wanted was to be true to the inner me the real me
The poet who’s heart pumps idioms and metaphors
But no! They want it the other way around
I can’t live my life the way I want because there are surveillance cameras watching my every move
I’m sick and tired of them deep inside I yearn to find a world of my own
Where only me, myself and I exist
A world filled with purified honesty that runs through the core of all that is
Because I’m really tired of saying sorry for things I didn’t do
