Equity Bank and KALRO Trains Laikipia Farmers On Soya Beans Farming

The Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) and Equity Bank have collaborated in training some farmers in Laikipia County.
The county has a huge potential in production of soya and other beans varieties.
Extension officers trained as expected to assist local farmers in managing the Soya farming in the area.
The training covered various aspects of the production of soya beans, Nyota and Angaza beans, processing and market linkage to ensure that the county will be food secure starting at the grassroots level.
The initiative that took place in Rumuruti area will ensure that farmers have access to certified seeds, support to intensify seed production, set up adaptive trials in the County, quality extension services, and financial support.
After the training, the team visited the Ntumot Yeeseriack Kisiriri Self-Help group which grows soya beans in Kisiriri area.
Governor Joshua Irungu who oversaw the training exercise was accompanied by among others his Deputy Reuben Kamuri, County Secretary Koinange Wahome, Chief Officer Agriculture Elizabeth Mwangi, Chief Officer Livestock and Fisheries Mary Gichuru, Equity Bank representative George Kaburu among other senior officers from KALRO.
