Mitigate climate change impacts

By: Imali Jacklyne Barasa

Nowadays, farmers tend to yearn for crops that mature within a short period, in order for them to take to the market.

This has caused farmers to forget crops that tend to survive when drought befallen.

And when it reaches a time where there are no rains, that is when hunger strikes not because we are poor but because we gave crops that matures within a short period of three or four months a first priority.

Crops like cassava, millet, sorghum and also sweet potatoes even though they are grown, but not at a larger percentage.

This is just because of some farmers who tend to ignore those crops regarding that they take long which is not true. And also that their farm may be wasted.

It is time to wake up as farmers we can also make cash out of them.

Just take even 1/4 of your land for these crops that will enable us combat hunger when it strikes.
