Evans Asikoyo Amubi (the poet)
In quiet halls where dreams are born,
A spark ignites in early morn.
The smoke curls up, the flames grow high,
As Hope and Laughter turn to sigh.
In Kenyan schools, the fires rage,
Stealing futures, page by page.
Faulty wires, old and frail,
Left unchecked until they fail.
A flicker, then a roaring blaze,
Engulfs the night, destroys the days.
The dreams of children caught in flight,
Are lost within the smoke and night.
Crowded dorms with no escape,
Unsafe doors that twist and gape.
The heat consumes, the walls collapse,
The promise of tomorrow snaps.
What caused the fire, who’s to blame?
It’s young lives lost in silent flame.
Anger brews within the youth,
A matchstick sparked by hidden truth.
Revenge or protest, careless play,
One strike, and all is burned away.
In every ember lies the cost,
Of futures bright and futures lost.
The fire dims a shining light,
It robs the children of their right.
To learn, to grow, to lead the way,
Yet flames take all in one cruel day.
The ashes tell a tale of woe,
Of dreams that never got to grow.
Oh, Kenya’s children, full of grace,
Their future scarred by fire’s face.
The lessons left unsaid, unlearned,
As school after school is burned.
A country mourns what could have been,
A loss that echoes deep within.
Let us seek to end this pain,
So no more sparks ignite in vain.
Protect the children, guard their dreams,
For brighter days than fire’s gleams.
The future of a nation stands,
Within those small, yet eager hands.

All our children don’t deserve to die…fire will die one day. Thanks Evans for the poem
