Dr Isaac Newton Kinity

Former Kenya Civil Servants Union Secretary General and the Chairman of the Kikimo Foundation for Corruption and Poverty Eradication, Dr Isaac Newton Kinity, has accused both those in government and in opposition of being equally responsible for the economic hardships and systemic corruption affecting the nation.
Speaking in a statement, Dr Kinity emphasised that the ongoing suffering of Kenyans is the result of decades of mismanagement by political leaders, regardless of their position.
“It is unfortunate in Kenya today because those in governance and those in opposition are all responsible for the unbearable situation Kenyans are in,” Dr Kinity said.
He added that many opposition leaders were previously part of governments that looted public funds, while those currently in government were at times in opposition, only to continue practices of mismanagement once in office.
Dr Kinity described the political cycle as a “recycling” of the same leaders who, in his view, have consistently failed the public.
“Kenyans should always remember that most of those calling themselves opposition were in government the other day, and they were the looters of public funds then. Today, they are challenging corruption to blindfold Kenyans into believing that they are the redeemers,” he noted.
Call for Transparent and Patriotic Leadership
The human rights activist and chairman of the Kikimo Foundation for Corruption and Poverty Eradication warned that no politician from these circles can be trusted to end corruption.
“None of them. Kenyans must understand that the language of building the nation has always been used by those in opposition and those in governance during campaigns as empty promises aimed at garnering votes,” he said.
Dr Kinity highlighted the role of oversight institutions such as the Office of the Controller of Budget and the Auditor-General in mitigating mismanagement, emphasising that their advice is often ignored.
“A good leader is one of honesty, transparency, and one who listens to his team. If the executive and the Kenyan Parliament were listening to the Controller of the Budget, Ms Margaret Nyakango, and the Auditor-General, Ms Nancy Gathungu, Kenya would not be in the mess it is in today,” he stated.
He urged Kenyans to seek leaders with proven patriotism and integrity rather than recycling politicians with a history of mismanagement.
“Recycling of those same leaders who have been messing with Kenya and destroying the lives of millions of Kenyans will not help Kenyans, no matter how much Kenyans pray,” he said, calling for a focus on transparent, accountable leadership to restore public trust and address issues such as unemployment and poverty.
