Good governance ensures priorities are done on merit and on significance of urgency and value. Good governance is not just a happening, it is a product of the society, our institutions and our political infrastructure, governance and orientations.
Currently we are witnessing evolution of academic fraud by the political class, poor governance in our government agencies, and acceptance of clownism in our political outfits. This is a dangerous reflection of our social morals and who we are.
To change the narrative, we need to put in place measures that will ensure party nominations filters nominees with an iron fist, to shed off individuals with tainted image, suspected criminals, or person who have a record of violating public norms.
As long as political parties goes for people with questionable traits, questionable sources of wealth and for persons without morals or integrity, the reality of good governance will remain a pipe-dream. Integrity should be the standard qualification for any candidate, fame and money should be secondary, optional.
Integrity will allow for the right leaders to hold public offices and fuel growth in all spheres of the country. Today we are witnessing clowns fighting for elective posts, they have nothing to offer, deceit and the greed to embezzle public resources. Others are riding on fraudulent academic credentials just to be in the public office.
Poor governance, lead by compromised leaders births corruptionΒ which negatively affects the economic growth more generally by killing some drivers of potential growth such as public and private investment, human capital accumulation, macroeconomic including financial stability, as well as total factor productivity.

Before we go for our leaders, no matter which level, let us go for integrity, let us know who they are. Some have acquired good education which cant be established, and they are causing havoc to their followers. Some have no formal education, and are doing great services to their people. Good governance is not determined by education but common sense on what is good or bad.
To decrease poverty, to increase production and income per capita, to address security issues, to decrease unemployment, to build better health facilities, to ensure free education for all, to guarantee clean water and hygienic environment, we must ask ourselves, do we need good governance or we just follow gangster parties to punish another gangster party? Good governance is the solution not bureaucracies and protocols by the corrupt.
