The newly elected South West Branch Law Society of Kenya (LSK) chairman, Gideon Nyambati has petitioned the government to connect all courts with internet to enhance online hearing and conclusion of cases.
The official noted that some areas have no internet connectivity and it leads to delays in hearing of the cases and affects litigants who travel far distances for their cases.
He said most cases are being heard virtually, adding that the Society is training her members and litigants to embrace the online judicial services to save times and costs of travelling to hear the cases in various courts.
The chairman, accompanied by former treasurer Ben Gichana also implored the government to employ more Judges and Magistrates to hasten hearing and determination of cases in the Branch to ease the suffering of litigants.
“Majority of the members of the public are not conversant with the online judicial services embraced after the breakout of Covid 19 in 2020. The Branch will assist them” Nyambati said.
He was speaking at the Branch’s office in Kisii town after former chairman, Wilkins Ochoki handed over to new officials who were elected last week after the former officials left office after serving for four years.
