Illicit Brew

There have been high rate of illicit brew consumption in Kenya today. These drug is laced with a dangerous chemical called methanol which is not good for consumption. It has become a problem for several decades, especially with the occurrence of death episodes blamed on the consumption of changaa.
It has affected not only consumers but the family of the consumers and the society at large. According to the statistics male gender that is men and young teenage boys are the most affected gender who take illicit brew.
In the society today men and young boys disappear to a nearby illicit brew centres only to arrive late in the night and sometimes others even fail to arrive back home. This has course a lot of problems such as deterioration of their health, poverty, school drop outs have increased, conflicts, divorce and many more. It is always sad to see women striking in the streets just because their young teenage boys have been found death in breweries centres ,their husbands have fail to return back to their homes and just spending time at those centres and even others their young boys have been arrested having involve themselves in crime.
The Kenyan government in 2010,legalised the traditional home brewed spirit in an effort to take business away from establishments where toxic chemicals were added in the brew to make stronger.
Many traditional Brewer seems to have taken advantage of the freedom and begun adding methanol in the drinks. There is need for the society to arise and campaign against illicit brew. The government should come into the issues and take legal actions concerning the matter.
