In God’s Perfect Love: Overcoming

There are instances in life you find yourself with emotional and mental turmoil; in sorrow because of various reasons in this life. Some people are affected to the extent of becoming sick even in their hearts, take for example the Psalmist King David in Psalm 6: 1-4 : “LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint/ sick; heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in deep anguish. How long, LORD, how long?  Turn, LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your UNFAILING LOVE.”

Here we see a man with deep feelings of anguish and his cry unto God. The description is vivid and it expresses the emotions that can happen to any believer. David is described as “ A Man after God’s own heart” He honestly proclaims to be weak, perhaps even in the present world, the greatest show of strength is admission of weakness, and even as Apostle Paul state “ When I am weak, am strong  : “ God strength is made perfect in our weakness.” We see Psalmist David acknowledge God’s unfailing love, not because of what David does, or feels; but who God is.

I pray for us all  to have faith in believing in God’s unfailing love, because when this is at the core of our being, it makes us overcome all. The Scripture states in 1 Corinthians 13 “ There remains Faith, Hope and Love, but the Greatest is Love.” This is precisely the Love of God( Who He Is: Perfect love, as we also saw in 1 John 4: 18 in our previous sermon.

I believe when we approach God we should be clean/ holy for He is Holy. We know very well in our human nature, this is impossible. But by faith, we proclaim and adorn the righteousness and holiness of Christ Jesus. For He is our everlasting Priest and mediator: for we live in Him, and He in us through the Holy Spirit, as it is written “ May the God of Hope, fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit”.

It is wrong/ breaking God’s law to sin, but we find ourselves having committed sin, even when we did not intend to, or at instances we find ourselves surprised having thought we cannot succumb to sin, but find ourselves having fallen into it. But there is hope and restoration. There will be sorrow, as scriptures states in 1 Cor 7: 10 “Godly sorrow leads to repentance and eternal life.” We have to know that when we repent our sins, it is not a feeling, but a fact/ truth of Who God has done and is. Some people want to feel a certain way! We know Satan is the accuser of brethren and his aim is to make you feel separate from God, when truth God has forgiven you and cleansed you from all unrighteous. We should be careful not to have a Works Based view of God, when in truth “There is nothing we can do to earn God’s love and forgiveness.”

HALELUJAH. PRAISE BE TO THE GOD WHO FULLY RESTORES.
