Innovate Kenya Tech Summit Launch Set To Spark New Opportunities In Kenya’s Innovation Ecosystem

By MKT Reporter

The Innovate Kenya Tech Summit 2025 was officially launched yesterday.

This highly anticipated event aims to position Kenya as a hub for technology-driven socio-economic development.

Bringing together thought leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, investors and policymakers, the summit highlights how technology can drive sustainable growth, create jobs, and foster entrepreneurship.

Opening the event at Serena Hotel, Nairobi, Myke Rabar, the Chief Executive Officer, Homeboyz Entertainment, reflected on his entrepreneurial journey, comparing the past to the opportunities available today.

“In the 1990s, starting a business meant relying on personal networks, word of mouth, and limited access to resources. There were no centralized platforms to connect startups with investors or offer the support ecosystems we see today. Fast-forward to now, platforms like Innovate Kenya empower entrepreneurs with direct access to knowledge, funding, and networks in ways that were unimaginable then,” Rabar said.

He emphasized the summit’s significance, noting how technology is transforming industries and creating new opportunities for youth, women and marginalized communities.

Victor Otieno, Managing Director of Viffa Consult Limited, who gave a presentation on the objectives of the Summit and solutions it aims to create for the various sectors, emphasized on the collaborative nature of the summit.

“This summit is not a one-off event—it is a stakeholder-driven initiative aimed at showcasing technological advancements, fostering innovation, and aligning with Kenya’s strategic development goals under MTP IV and county-level frameworks,” Otieno remarked.

“We aim to create an inclusive environment where innovators, investors, and policymakers can co-create solutions for Kenya’s most pressing challenges.”

The summit, which will take place in March next year, will address key themes including Tech for Health, Tech for Agriculture, Tech for Jobs, Tech for Sustainability and Tech for Gender Equality among others.

It offers a unique platform for startups to pitch ideas directly to investors and explore market access, while also fostering partnerships between governments and the private sector.

Among some of the key figures who graced the event included Tonny Omwansa CEO Kenya National Innovation Agency (KENIA) who applauded the initiative and pledged his full support for the Summit, Palas Chanda Group CEO Cyber School Technology Solutions, Savio Wambugu Chairman Association of countrywide Innovation hubs (ACIH), George Wayne Founder and CEO NakuruBox, Wambua Nyamai Ag CEO Kenya National Federation of Jua Kali Association (KNFKJA), Pat Okelo Founder of Kayana the premier women’s accelerator based in Nairobi committed to SDG 5, Benard Morintat Regional Design and Construction Engineer Infrastructure Development Division and Phyllis Maitha Marketing, Sales and Research Manager Stima Sacco Society Ltd among other notable names in the industry.
