Politics has become a head on topic of day to day discussion in every media house. It has become an emerging issue to mistake politics for legislative debuce. One can always be passionate without being personal. The desire to win political seats has overcome the integrity of our leaders.
As seen in the past years politics, the greatest mistake is to judge policies and programs by their intentions rather than their results. Politicians who talk about the environment and know nothing about economics can make as many mistakes as one who does the opposite. This makes them have a narrow political horizon.
Politics isn’t what defines a person, and it shouldn’t define a relationship. The government needs to redefine welfare and wealth, including reevaluating what makes people happy. Deciding on how to spend money on politics should be at the top tier of the government’s role.
Similarly in a crisis, the main concern is how to transit from the crisis to recovery mode, therefore in politics, the government should take a long term view, dream of the future perspective on development. They should move beyond the aggregate outcome measures to reveal the inequalities hidden behind the means and medians.
