The Mountain Region or Central Kenya to be precise, is not just a bedrock of Kenya’s rich heritage and history, but it’s also iconic for a people who since antiquity maintained their identity, culture and values.
Until recently, the rain started beating the people with a myriad of challenges right in front of them – ranging from historical injustices, alcoholism, inequality, marginalisation just to mention but a few.
In light of this a section of leaders from the Mountain Region led by Dr. Thuo Mathenge popularly known as Wanguku have taken the responsibility upon themselves to see to it that some of these pertinent challenges are addressed.
In a gathering of Men’s Conference in Murang’a various pertinent issues emerged with leaders saying the time is now. The theme was: “Tûiguane, twendane, tûthereme: Which means “let’s reason together, and love each other for prosperity.
Mr. Maina Njenga called for swift action to address land injustices which date back to early times.
Citing the case of the Delmonte land, Mr Maina Njenga said it’s the high time the issue of land allocation to those who were rendered homeless is expedited.
“The late PMG Njuguna wa Ruthi had a bright idea of pursuing justice for the voiceless. He relentlessly fought for the squatters who for now have nowhere to call home ever since they were evicted from their homes.”
