Kirinyaga County Jubilee gubernatorial candidate Senator Charles Kibiru yesterday received a major boost in his quest to win rhe seat after he received support from the Narc Kenya candidate.
The move will now see Senator Kibiru and his running mate Peter Ndambiri edge closer to winning the hotly contested seat.
Narc Kenya candidate Muriithi Kagai was prevailed upon to support the Jubilee team so as to increase the chance of the Azimio coalition capturing the seat, currently held by Ann Waiguru.
She is defending the seat on United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.
Yesterday, while announcing the development, Jubilee party leaders in the county led by veteran politician Mureithi Kang’ara disclosed that the withdrawal of the Narc Kenya candidate, Senator Kibiru remained the only Azimio coalition candidate and was optimistic he would carry the day during the Tuesday next week General Election.
On his part, Senator Kibiru thanked the Azimio team in the county for trusting him and his deputy to deliver the gubernatorial seat.
He said, “I am thanking the Azimio La Umoja Coalition for trusting me as it’s only flag bearer for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial Seat. I pledge to restore Kirinyaga’s lost glory through providing the best and affordable healthcare for all, provide a conducive environment for our children in ECDE, make and upgrade all our county roads and generally ensure we enjoy the living standards that we deserve.
The people of Kirinyaga deserve better and I offer myself as the only ideal candidate for the job”.
Others in the race include the current Women Representative Wangui Ngirichi who is running as an Independent candidate, former area governor Joseph Ndathi who is trying to recapture the seat on The Service Party (TSP) party and former Mwea MP Peter Gitau.
