Kisii County Launches Ajiry Program

Kisii County have launched of the Ajiry Job Centre a programme aimed opening avenues for the employment of youths.
Speaking during the launch of the Program supported by Mastercard foundation, Kisii County governor said that the program will address youth unemployment.
Governor said that the youth constitute over 20 percent of the population and this poses a challenge, with regard to training and employment opportunities, hence the need for us to think outside the box to enable the youth access the means to eke out a living.
Arati said that with the dynamic environment, where digital technological advancement has literary turned the world into a global village, it is important that youths are trained to embrace the uptake of new technology, so as to acquire skills to enable them cut a niche in the global job market.
“That is why, my administration has joined hands with Ajiry to establish this job centre here at the Gusii Stadium, to help equip the youth with online skills to enable them get job connections.” he said.
Ajiry is a Progressive Web Application (PWA) designed to provide a platform for entrepreneurial youth to connect and network effortlessly, conveniently and free from the controls of third-part agents with employers.
He cited that the programme allows youth to cast a wider net in their search for job opportunities
However, for too long, youths and women have been marginalized and overlooked and it’s time for us to change that narrative. To this end, The Ajiry Job Centre is a step in the right direction, by providing a platform for our young men and women to showcase and their skills, talents, expertise.
He cited that it is important to note that with the advent of technology, digital skills have become an essential requirement for the job market.
“The Ajiry Job Centre recognizes this and offers training and mentorship opportunities for our youth and women to acquire these skills,” he said.
This will not only make them competitive in the job market but also enable them to participate fully in the digital economy, globally.
He noted that digital economy is the future, and we must prepare our youth and women to take advantage of the opportunities that come with it, with the Ajiry Job Centre, we are not only creating jobs but also building a workforce that is equipped with the skills necessary to sustainably thrive in the digital economy.
The Ajiry Job Centre also offers opportunities for entrepreneurship, providing a platform for our young people and women to start their businesses and create jobs for others.
