Kisii County UDA Senatorial Candidate Joash Maangi alleges that over 15 uniformed police officers invaded his compound illegally they did not issue him any warrant.
It is alleged that the uniformed police officers invaded Maangi ‘s compound at Riagongera in search of starved ballot papers.
It is said that, the police officers received a tip of that ballot papers were being starved at Maangi’s compound.
Addressing the press Maangi said that, he was at Kisii town during the search.
According to Maangi, they said police officers were looking for starved ballot papers of which he was not aware about them, the only person who was at the compound was his brother.
They went to inquire from the Gucha police station, and they were told, they are not aware of such incident.
Mr Maangi said that his fear is the alleged uniformed officers searched his compound on his absentia.
“I fear they searched my compound without any warrant, they might have dropped canisters,”he said.
Mr Maangi said that he was conducting a meeting with their agents when the incident took place in his home at Riagongera at Gucha Sub County
He pleaded to the police officers to avoid harassing him .
“This is not the first time, the said police officers have been harassing him, “he said.
Mr Maangi pleaded to the security officers to avoid intimidating him, he said that , it was purely malice , and the intention was to disrupt him from carrying out his activities.
He said that, he is not ashamed nor does he fear to support the candidature of it’s own choice.
Mr Maangi said that, for him being in Kenya Kwanza does not guarantee him to being intimidated.
On his side, Mr Charles Matoke Kenya Kwanza Kisii Branch official agent said that, they received a phone call that the alleged uniformed police officers were snooping the compound of Maangi.
Mr Matoke said that all the time they had been conducting peaceful campaigns and they do not have any intention to rig election.
They asked security officer’s to give all the candidates a favorable fair ground by not intimidating nor favouring others.
He said that they are up to the task and the electorates will decide on whom to vote for.
He said that the electorates are wise, if there is anyone who wants to use security officers to intimidate others, they are very sorry about that.
Gucha Sub County Deputy County Commissioner Emanuel Mwachiro, said that they are not aware of such incident if it took place.
He further said, they did not send any police officers to invade Maangi.
