Kisii County Woman Representative Dorice Donya Encourages Public To Embrace and Support Individuals with Disabilities.

Kisii County’s Woman Representative, Dorice Donya, has called upon the public to embrace and provide support for people living with disabilities.

Speaking from her office during a wheelchair donation event for individuals with disabilities, Donya emphasized that living with a disability should not be regarded as a crime or a mark of shame.

She stressed that those with disabilities are integral members of the community, and society should learn how to accommodate and include them.

Donya pointed out that individuals with disabilities are often wrongly considered a burden on the community when, in fact, they bring blessings.

Donya appealed to the public to abandon the social stigma that surrounds disabilities and refrain from hiding individuals with disabilities from public view.

This, she explained, is crucial to enable authorities to identify and provide assistance to those in need through appropriate support programs.

She highlighted the discrimination that people with disabilities face, which leads some parents to isolate their children by keeping them at home, preventing them from interacting or playing with others.

Donya passionately urged society not to judge these individuals, as their condition is part of God’s plan.

“There are so many talents with the people living with disabilities,” she said.

Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of breaking the stereotypes and removing the stigma associated with different types of disabilities.

Donya implored parents not to deny children with disabilities the right to associate with others just because they are differently-abled.

She urged the public not to underestimate the potential and contributions of individuals with disabilities and to stand in solidarity with them.
