Laikipia West MP Wachira Karani after touring Bunge Towers yesterday

The National Assembly Committee on Members’ Services and Facilities yesterday conducted an extensive tour of the new state-of-the-art Bunge Towers to assess progress of final furnishings ahead of its scheduled occupation by legislators by end of the year.
The Committee Members led by the Chairperson, the Stephen Wachira Karani expressed their satisfaction with the progress made on the project which was initiated to remedy the challenge of office space and meeting rooms for Members of Parliament and staff.
“Our fact finding mission has established that so far the project is 97 percent done. This is quite good. It is our hope as a Committee that the project is completed within the set timelines”, said Karani.
Accompanying the Members of the Committee during the inspection visit was the Director General of the Parliamentary Joint Service, Mr. Clement Nyandiere and the lead Architect Mr. Andrew Nyongesa.
The building will host 320 MPs as well as offer legislators modern Committee meeting rooms that will enhance the operations of Parliamentary Committees.
Committees are vital organs in the workings of Parliament given that approximately 60 per cent of the House business is conducted in Committees. The National Assembly currently runs a total of 44 Committees.
The ground floor of the building will host a modern library and a visitors lounge
The ultra-modern skycrapper has 26 floors, making it one of the tallest buildings in the City.
